Yeah. Good film, let down by a terrible ending. Imagine if a film of 1984 had ended with Winston Smith discovering Big Brother was allergic to sea water and using it to kill him!
TDotT does seem to be in the same"domestic dystopia" tradition of 1984, which had only been published a couple of years earlier. I'd say Orwell was as almost big an influence on it as Wells. (But maybe that's just me.)
I've never seen the poster above but it reminds me of the poster of "The Woman Eater". I've never seen the film but have always likes the furry plant beast it depicted. It ranks just above "The Crawling Eye" in the Posters Of B movies I Like But Have Never Seen category.
I've got four days off and plan to catch up on these Triffid programmes when it inevitably pishes of rain.
