the bone moon is rising 

behind the scattered monoliths, 

beyond the dreaming wall, 

silver staining their jagged skins, 

crouching shoulder to shoulder, 

waiting in a ring 

eternal the circle 

tarred in shadows, 

moss drifts on their faces, 

brushed by howling breath, 

sky-flung stones watching 

a frozen moon ploughing 

fields of space, seas of time, 

eternal the circle 

the moon’s blade slices the night, 

they dream on, often forgotten, 

But the stones remember, 

a snake eating its tail, 

the dragon coiling round, 

Waiting to return 

eternal the circle
