Jim,
Absolutely loved your first episode on the BBC Horror Double Bills - a fascinating bit of history altogether. I have always been intrigued as to how particular films ended up being scheduled on either the BBC or ITV. Someone told me once that the TV stations bought the rights to films in packages, so they'd buy a big-hitter like Jaws or Close Encounters and then have access to a mixed bunch of second and third-tier films (presumably with the same distributor?) as part of the deal. Hence some of the random0seeming scheduling as the broadcasters went through what they'd piked up alongside their top-drawer titles. And did Leslie Halliwell for a time work as a film buyer for either the BBC or ITV? Probably the former. Not BBC-related, but I always remember being very jealous on looking through TV Times and finding that other regional ITV stations were playing horror films I'd never seen and which were definitely NOT on on Thames, which covered where I lived!
