PULP ZOMBIES! Part II

Argosy December 1934

To compliment my recent podcast -  HYPNOGORIA 63 - Zombi Zombi Part 13 -  on the rise of the zombie in pulp fiction, here's a further selection of covers chronicling the dead walking in the pages of the pulps!

 Terror Tales March 1940

Complete Detective May 1938

Fantastic Adventures February 1953

I'm thinking the guy with the sappy hand in the Argosy is actually based on homicidal pyromaniac Saul in The Old Dark House (1932). In this direct lifting of another character a for supposedly unrelated character pre-dates the tradition in Horror Top Trumps by several decades.

Well spotted! There is a definitely a very strong resemblance - as can be seen here http://tardypodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/ODH.jpg
